The Best Books of 2015 for Your Holiday Travel

14 December 2015

Whether by plane, train, or automobile, the holidays often involve a great deal of travel. Nothing helps to pass the time en route like getting lost in a good book. Luckily, we have some great reads on the shelves of our Read It and Return Lending Library. When you set about your travels, dive into one of our 4 favorite picks of the season:

1) Starry Nights by Debbie Macomber

Carrie Slayton is a small-time reporter itching to make her break in a big city. After writing only for the society-page of her newspaper, Slayton is granted a challenge by her editor. She can unleash her journalistic potential and write on any topic of her choosing, but only if she can first land an interview with an author who is as reclusive as he is famous.

Slayton puts her investigative skills to work and tracks down author Finn Dalton. Though she initially connects with him in search of her story, she is soon torn over the story that could make her career or the relationship of a lifetime. Both intriguing and romantic, this novel takes place during Christmas and is sure to bring the holiday cheer alive.

2) Hounded (The Iron Druid Chronicles #1) by Kevin Hearne

Any winter chill will subside when you read Kevin Hearne’s action packed fantasy adventure, Hounded. Dive into book one of the Iron Druid Chronicles with Atticus O’Sullivan, the young protagonist of the series. He may look like your average 21-year-old, but he’s actually a powerful Druid that happens to be 21 centuries old.  When an angry Celtic god tracks him down for his magical sword, he’ll need all the power and help he can get to overcome him.

Hearne’s series is the perfect read for sci-fi and urban fantasy fans, and is sure to make any road trip or plane ride zoom right by. Be sure to check back with us in January, too. A sweepstakes with Kevin Hearne is coming your way!
