Travel Tips: How to Pack for Unpredictable Spring Weather
Friday, March 14, 2014
Springtime is upon us and we joyfully welcome the warmer weather and blooming flowers. However, these changes usually mean spring showers and unpredictable temperatures, and packing for a trip suddenly becomes more challenging than usual. Use these simple tips to pack for spring’s changing weather without having to use an extra suitcase!
It’s important to thoroughly check the weather before you start organizing your luggage. Be sure to use a trusted weather source, like your destination’s local news website or a favorite weather app. You should also pay attention to how the weather is forecasted to change throughout the day. It may be chilly in the morning, but warm up during your afternoon excursions.
Packing with purpose is crucial when preparing for unpredictable weather during travel. You don’t want to worry about being uncomfortable when you are trying to enjoy and explore new surroundings. Plan your outfits in advance and make sure every outfit is built with layers. For example, ladies may want to wear a cotton dress with leggings and a sweater or jean jacket. Another outfit may include jeans with a thin cotton shirt or button down paired with a cardigan or light jacket. The same concept applies for men. The layers you choose should be light, and you should avoid bulky coats and sweaters. You won’t want to carry them around all day once the weather warms up. Closed-toed shoes are also recommended during spring travel as you’ll want to avoid walking around with wet feet. Finally, throw an umbrella and a pair of sandals in an oversized bag or purse so you’ll be able to transform with the weather.
