Tuesday, June 3, 2014
The flowers have bloomed and the temperatures are climbing, which means that summertime is here! During some of the hottest days of the year, kids and adults alike enjoy cooling off in the water. It’s time to pack your swimsuits and sunscreen for a wet and wild vacation to a water park. From lazy river rides to thrilling water slides, these water parks are a must on every summer travel itinerary.
1. Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels, Texas
You can bet on everyone getting wrinkled fingers and toes after playing in this 70-acre waterpark. Schlitterbahn Waterpark has several heated pools for both kids and adults to enjoy throughout the summer. Their lazy river ride seems endless, with a conveyer belt taking floaters right back to the start of the ride. You won’t even have to stand up! One of their most exciting attractions, The Falls, is considered to be the world’s longest waterpark ride; it is 3,600 feet of whitewater river, complete with waves, waterfalls, and beaches. Relax after a fun day of splashing and swimming at the nearby Country Inns & Suites By Carlson, San Marcos hotel.
2. Six Flags White Water in Atlanta, Georgia
Get ready for the newest ride at Six Flags White Water, the Typhoon Twister! Test your luck on a cloverleaf-shaped raft that starts with a plunge down a five-story high enclosed tunnel. Once you’re back under the sun, the raft will spin around a 67-foot wide bowl. You’ll whirl around until you can’t see straight. The raft will continue swirling until you fall into a twisted corkscrew chute and land in a cool lagoon. This is just one of the many amazing rides at this exciting waterpark! Dry off and sleep like a baby at the end of a fun day at one of our many Atlanta area hotels.
3. Adventure Island in Tampa, Florida
It wouldn’t be a trip to the Sunshine State without a visit to a cool waterpark! Splash zones, volleyball courts, tube rides, waterslides, and a wave pool await visitors at Adventure Island. The kids can play for hours in Paradise Lagoon, and the adults can enjoy a calm, half-mile tube trip through a colorful rain forest. End the day with a race down the Riptide or Caribbean Corkscrew waterslides. You’re going to need your energy, so stay at one of our Tampa area hotels and fuel up on our free, hot breakfast each morning.
4. Water World in Denver, Colorado
Water World opens in late May of each year and is full of adventure for the whole crew. Upon your arrival, start by taking a gondola ride in the sky! This aerial ride will give you an excellent view of the park and help you decide where you want to make your first splash. Perhaps you’ll want to test your water combat skills at the H2Orena or get your adrenaline pumping on the six-story tall Skyline Speed Slides. Show this park you have the guts and you’ll leave with all the glory! Recharge after each day of fun at the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Denver International Airport.
5. Wet ‘n Wild in Orlando, Florida
In addition to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, Orlando also offers the Wet ‘n Wild waterpark. The little ones will be happy spending the whole day in Blastaway Beach. A six-story sandcastle is the centerpiece to 15,000 square feet of pools, soakers, and slides. Meanwhile, the whole family can enjoy the newest attraction, Aqua Drag Racer. It’s the tallest and fastest ride of its kind in Florida. The race begins 65 feet above the ground and you’ll go head-to-head as you speed head first down 350 feet of twisting track until you land with a splash in the pool below. We look forward to seeing you at one of our Orlando hotels soon!
