Head to Upstate New York this spring to visit a small town with world-class beauty and wonder. Ithaca is widely known by its slogan, “Ithaca is Gorges,” for the many gorgeous waterfalls and gorges in the area. This town on the corner of the Finger Lakes Region offers an abundance of outdoor activities and so much more! Pack your camera, hiking boots, and these itinerary ideas for an unforgettable trip to Ithaca.

The outdoor activities are plentiful, so it can be difficult to do everything in one trip. However, be sure to visit Robert Treman State Park and Buttermilk Falls State Park to swim under the falls or float in a swimming hole after an exciting day of hiking. Some of the best places to hike on your first trip are the Rim Trail and Gorge Trail at Taughannock Falls State Park. You’ll have amazing views of the tallest waterfall in the northeast! Top off your outdoor adventures by renting a kayak or taking a boat tour at Cayuga Lake.

Ithaca may be known for its beautiful outdoor wonderland, but there are many other exciting attractions to see and do as well. You can learn something new at the Museum of Earth or the Sciencenter. You’ll feel like you’re stepping back in time when you tour the History Center in Tompkins County. If you enjoy theatre, catch a show at the State Theatre of Ithaca or the Dillingham Center at Ithaca College. You can also do a little shopping and buy yourself a fancy souvenir at Sola Gallery or State of the Art Gallery.  For a more relaxed view of the scenery, you can soak in the beauty of the rolling hills, glens and waterfalls on a day tour of the Cayuga Wine Trail.

Finally, no trip would be complete without enjoying your destination’s shopping, dining and nightlife. You’ll love Downtown Ithaca Commons, located adjacent to Cornell University and Ithaca College. There are over 100 shops, restaurants, street vendors and street entertainers to enjoy! This quaint area also hosts a number of entertaining events, such as Restaurant Week Ithaca, free summer concerts, the annual Apple Harvest Festival, and the Annual Chili Festival and Winterfest.

It’s amazing how much fun and entertainment awaits you in this small town in Tompkins County. Visit Ithaca for a jam-packed weekend getaway or a week-long vacation; you won’t be disappointed! The Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Ithaca looks forward to hosting you each and every time you visit.
