Get away to Pennsylvania this summer! From entertainment to relaxation and history to dining experiences, the Coast to Capital itinerary will take you on a road trip you’ll never forget.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Philadelphia has a rich history, but also offers visitors many contemporary attractions and activities. Start your journey in the City of Brotherly Love at the Independence National Historic Park, where you can walk on the grounds where the nation’s history was started, including a visit to Independence Hall, where both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were signed by the Founding Fathers. For more adventurous visitors, a trip to the Eastern State Penitentiary is a must. One of the strictest prisons in the country, the prison was home to notorious prisoners such as “Slick Willie” Sutton and Al Capone. Thrill seekers can even experience Terror Behind the Walls, the haunted house within the prison.

Enjoy the city’s outdoor space at Morris Arboretum, which offers 92 acres of beauty and over 12,000 plants, or explore foods from many cultures at the Reading Terminal Market. If all of the browsing and shopping makes you hungry, enjoy a meal at one of the market’s restaurant, or experience one of the many great dining options Philadelphia has to offer – including the popular Sketch Burger and Alma de Cuba. Ready to hit the hay after a long and exciting day of exploring the city? Rest your head at our comfortable Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Absecon (Atlantic City) hotel near Galloway, New Jersey.

Hershey and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

After you have gotten your fill of Philadelphia’s attractions, it’s only a short drive west to Hershey and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Stop off at one of our three area hotels – Hershey at the Park, Harrisburg Northeast, and Harrisburg at Union Deposit Road – for a friendly welcome and freshly baked cookie. As the home of the Hershey Company, Hershey, Pennsylvania, is often called “The Sweetest Place on Earth,” but it also has several attractions that go beyond its chocolatey namesake.

Visit the Art Association of Harrisburg to enjoy artwork by local and national artists, all housed within a three-story townhome. Avid shoppers will love the Outlets at Hershey, which feature shops that cater to the whole family. Visitors can also shop in downtown Harrisburg at Harrisburg Strawberry Square, and grab a bite to eat while you’re there at one of the area’s many cafés and eateries. For a more filling meal and a unique dining experience, stop by Firehouse Restaurant. Located inside the remains of an old firehouse, this restaurant will have you remembering more than just the delicious lobster or baby back ribs. Before you leave, stop by Hershey Gardens, the private rose garden of Milton Hershey, to stroll among the many flowers and the butterfly museum.

    Such amazing history

I am sad to learn about the Hummelstown hotel changing brands. This is a loss to CI&S and Hershey travelers.
